Good Faith Estimate
You as a Patient have the right to "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Health care providers must give patients without insurance or using insurance an estimate for medical services and items. This "Good Faith Estimate" includes all associated costs and must be provided at least one business day before the service. You can request an estimate before scheduling. If your final bill exceeds the estimate by $400 or more, you can challenge the charges. Keep a copy of the estimate for reference. Providers can't balance bill unless you were notified and signed a consent form. State laws may override federal balance billing protections.
