Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in a counseling session?
A typical counseling session lasts 50-60 minutes, although longer or shorter sessions may be appropriate at times and can be arranged to serve the best interests of the client. Weekly sessions are recommended at first, but as therapy progresses, sessions may become bi-weekly or scheduled as the client needs them. Between sessions, clients are encouraged to think about what was discussed during session and to try to process and connect with the information shared. At times you may be asked to read a book or other material that your counselor/therapist feels is important for your healing journey. For therapy to be successful, you must be a willing and active participant in your own healing journey.
What benefits can I expect from working with a counselor?
Counseling has several benefits. Many times, it can be a relief to find someone who can listen to us without judgment and someone who is genuinely trying to understand and connect with us. A counselor can help you develop healthy coping skills and gain deeper insights and understanding in your current life and relationships. Therapy is only as good as what you put into the process and how you try and use what you are learning in your life.
How much will my treatment cost?
The cash rate is as follows:

$90 for 60-minute individual therapy session

What can be expected if my child is a minor and will be receiving counseling services?
First and foremost, a completed and signed minor consent form must be signed by the legal guardian(s) of the minor child who has the legal authority to consent to the psychological, mental health assessment and subsequent treatment of the minor. Without a consent form in place, the minor child will not be seen.
Additionally, there will be details of our conversations with teenage clients that will have to remain private so that a trusting relationship can be built. However, make no mistake though - when it comes to safety or suspected abuse/neglect, we stick to our ethics and will involve the caretaker(s) and/or CPS, law enforcement, etc. if it applies. When these situations come up, we aim to make every effort to let our clients know that we will be needing to disclose and even give them an opportunity to be part of the conversation.
